Saif Ali Khan Says Sorry for assault on lensman

PATIALA: The furore sparked by actor Saif Ali Khan's alleged involvement in the assault on a local photo journalist in Patiala on Sunday turned se
rious on Monday as mediapersons blocked trains and shouted slogans against the GRP for not including the star's name in the FIR. The row ended only when Saif, who is in the city for the shoot of 'Three Idiots', apologized for his behaviour. (Watch

Trouble started on Sunday when photojournalist Pawan Kumar accused Saif of ordering two film unit staff to beat him up. Following the incident, the GRP booked the unit members for assault and intimidation.

Realizing that Saif's name had not been included in the FIR, the journalists began to protest. As the situation began to turn serious, senior officials stepped in to broker peace and the actor tendered an apology. Later, Kumar said he would withdraw his complaint.

On Sunday, Kumar had alleged that the two accused snatched his camera, mobile phone and wallet on Saif's directions when he was clicking photos. On Monday, when it was discovered that the actor's name was not included in the FIR, mediapersons gathered outside the GRP police station, demanding action. "Though we have not named Saif in the FIR, we are investigating his role," Banarasi Das said.
